Now that the Canton Paper Has.....

...decided that they're worth enough to actually charge for the unique privilege of reading and commenting on what they like to refer to as "news", it's probably time to keep this blog a little more updated than my schedule has allowed me to in the past.

Personally, I've always felt like the paper has always "edited" articles a little too heavily anyway,....or perhaps they simply didn't report the news with enough depth, who knows?  It's often been whispered that anything that would offend the "powers that be" in Canton would be either lightly glossed over or ignored entirely.  If true (and I believe it is) it's a shame, really, that such an old, established source for news in Fulton County would succumb to such stupidity.

Some things, such as charging for online viewing and commenting, are beyond the control of the current staff.  They are now corporate-owned and Gatehouse, the owner, seems to be slowly but surely using the same marketing plan for all of their publications.  Doesn't seem like a very good tactic to me, but on the other hand,....hell, I don't own the damn thing.  If I did, I'd print the truth, print what I choose important without fear of reprimand from anyone being offended, and would welcome any and all online comments without constantly pulling them or editing them.  A public forum is a public forum, and freedom of speech is freedom of speech.  That's what I believe in, and that's what this site is about.  Feel free to comment on any of the topics within this blog without fear of being censored.  Not gonna happen here, people.  If you've got a topic you would like to bring up, simply send your "Letter To The Editor" to the e-mail link above and I'll post it as a topic!  Simple, huh?

By the way, feel free to use a fictitious name or your real name, whichever you feel more comfortable with.  Honesty is great but (pardon the pun) "quite honestly", in this town you're liable to get lynched for not thinking and believing exactly like everyone else, so I can certainly understand using a "handle" on here.  Hell, I do even though I'm willing to bet most of you know who I am.

   Onward!

P.S. If you use Facebook,...."LIKE" this page!  Even if you don't agree with some of the opinions, you've got to agree that having a place to voice your opinion without fear of censorship is a great idea!

Trial Of The Century?

Okay, I've got a little problem with the whole - We're Here For You, Jason - youth pastor trial. I'm all for people having an opinion, either pro or con, regarding the guilt of this man, but the way that some of his sheep have been acting is enough to make me physically ill.

The bottom line, sheep, is this: The man has been found guilty by 12 of his peers. He has been through a trial. The jurors have seen and heard the evidence and made their decision based upon that evidence. What more do you want? Making up excuses over and over for this mans actions just shows that, regardless of what this man has done, you'll blindly follow him over the edge of a cliff. There have been threats made by you (members of the church, not necessarily YOU in particular) to others who believe him guilty, the victim has been harassed in a manner akin to schoolyard bullying (including visits from friendly parishioners to her place of work that included yelling and screaming vulgarities) and the outright obnoxious and self-righteous condemnation of anyone who believes this youth pastor used his position of power to take advantage of a child.

Is this how adults behave? Is this how Christians are supposed to behave? Is this the way your church teaches you to behave? Does your church condone this behavior?

Apparently so. It's no wonder the people in the community of Canton often refer to your church as a cult. You certainly act as though it is. I'd be ashamed, very ashamed. Once you come out of your kool-aid induced trance, you may want to consider taking a few minutes between yourselves and God and asking for forgiveness for your behavior.

I believe he's guilty. Got no problem with that. If you don't, that's just dandy too, but act like adults...or you might even try acting like Christians, when you voice your opinions.

Don't like my opinion? Deal with it, but I'm ready to listen to yours...uncensored, by the way.
